Saturday Morning Training Run

Hi Everybody!

I know how hard it is to get out and run when it is cold and dreary, but the weather is supposed to be nicer this Saturday, the 30th. One of the best things that motivate me to go outside and run is knowing that others might show up, so I am planning a 5, 10, or 15 mile training run at 8 am this Saturday at Monument Park.(take the I-25 and Unitah exit, head east, go under the bridge and then go south on Glen, which is right across from the 7-11). Take the winding road to the parking lot.

THIS IS NOT A RACE! You choose your distance and your pace. We start at the parking lot just before you go over the bridge down from the college. From there we do 5 mile "loops". Your car is your aid station, so you bring your own supplies.

REMEMBER: One of the fastest ways to get injured is to try and run somebody else's pace! We all have different strengths and weaknesses when it comes to running, so a flatter venue like what we will be running on will be more challenging for somebody who does better on a hilly course. THE POINT IS TO GET OUT THERE AND RUN! Several of us are managing injuries, so just do the best you can, and run your own pace.

I know there are a lot of you who are getting ready for a marathon, or longer this spring. Despite what it looks like outside today, springs, and race day will be here before you know it, so come on out and join me for a training run in this beautiful city we are so lucky to live in!

Hi Joey!

Hope you're getting in some good runs in before the snow falls. I hear you guys could get up to 8 inches! Wouldn't that beat all for Umstead! Have a great weekend!
