It has been one long, cold winter here in Colorado, so I decided it was about time to escape for a few days to beautiful, sunny Arizona for some running over Valentine's day weekend.
In 2005, I ran the beautiful Pemberton 50km, in 5 hours and 42 minutes. This year, I came back and ran it in 4 hours 29 minutes, and 55 seconds, just less than a minute and a half behind first place. I guess this getting older thing isn't all bad....
It was a fabulous weekend. We made new friends, some some old ones, and saw some great scenery. But with all those different kinds of cactus, it is not a place where you want to trip and fall.
The next day I ran the Lost Dutchman Marathon in Apache Junction. I was pretty spent from Saturday, but still managed to drag my sorry butt across the finish line under 4 hours. Thanks for the donuts at mile 21 race volunteers!
Here are some pictures of the Pemberton 50km. I love the nutritious food Deborah has with her. She ended up winning the race. I guess I am going to have to remember my marshmallow peeps for my next race! Congratulations Deb!!
